Great Florida Outpouring in the Secular Media

April 21, 2008

The outpouring in Florida continues! Todd Bentley has announced he will be extending the meetings at Ignite Church in Lakeland, Florida until May 7th. He is urging pastors and full-time ministers to come to Lakeland and get some of what God is doing to take back to their regions. The meetings have attracted the attention of the secular media in Lakeland. The clip below is an interview with Todd Bentley done by the Lakeland Ledger, the local newspaper. There is also an accompanying article on their site.

They also have a video interview with Todd there.  I tried to capture it and embed it here, but no luck.  It’s available on the sidebar I added that has all my video links for the revival.

Thanks for the link. I used to live in the Lakeland area and was interviewed by the guy who did the Ledger piece about my blog back in 2003. We used to drive past the old store that is now Ignite Church on our way from the Lakeland Vineyard to the McDonalds on US 98 that we’d eat $1.19 All American Meals with our home group after church on Sunday.

The word of the Bentley revival has made it up to our Vineyard church in metro Lexington (Wilmore); this feels a bit like an astronomer witnessing a supernova, watching what could be the next big “move of the Spirit” in its infancy,

There have been like 250,000 views of the revival on the live internet stream. Churches are broadcasting it at their facilities.

What I am excited about is the prophetic word last night that this move was going to travel I-40. I live in Albuquerque and the church that I lead has been crying out for this.

    MORE, LORD!!!!!!

Scriptural evidence the Lakeland revival is not of God:

(2Co 11:4). For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

The “Jesus” that Todd Bentley is preaching is not the Jesus of the Bible. His “Jesus” doesn’t preach and emphasize deep repentance, denying self and carrying the cross, selling one’s possesions to give to the poor and needy, forsaking ALL to follow him, and freely bestows his “anointing” on all who have heretical or bad doctrine and loose, immoral lives.

The “spirit” that Todd Bentley is operating under is causing manifestations that DO NOT APPEAR anywhere in the Bible. He has been known to cause animal manifestations as well (clucking like chickens, barking like dogs, etc.), all of which are manifestations that have long been associated with pagan and heathen religions but are found nowhere in Scripture, except with Nebechanezzar at the judgement of God.

The “gospel” that Todd preaches is a gospel of seeking after signs and wonders. It’s hocus pocus. Angel feathers, gold dust, diamonds falling, seeing female angels, again, all of which are found nowhere in Scripture. Seeking after miracles and not after the face and heart and burden of God is a deadly delusion that will lead one straight into accepting “another spirit”. There are MANY spirits in the world, which is why we are called both to test the spirits, and to test those who purport to be prophets and teachers by their DOCTRINE. Their doctrine must be solid and sound, and Todd’s is more new age and hype than it is sound Bible doctrine.

(2Th 2:8-11). And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming. Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

We need not say that just because there are many geniune miracles, that the whole move must be of God. The Anti-Christ himself will do many signs and wonders. And the mystery of lawlesness (anti-Christ deception) is already at work in the world. Anti-Christ doesn’t neccesary outright oppose Christ, instead, he counterfeits him.

(2Co 11:13-15). For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Angel encounters are a constant theme in his meetings, and people just soak it all up, not even thinking to seriously question it. But who is to say these angels are truly the angels of the Lord God, and not emissaries of Satan sent to deceive? Todd claims that his healing anointing comes from an angel, but there is no record in all of Scripture of an angel giving somebody an anointing. The Holy Spirit is the only One who anoints God’s ministers. If the anointing is from an angel, it’s a huge red flag.

(Col 2:18-19). Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

Glean what you will from that Scripture, but do note this, it is a very dangerous thing to speak constantly of angels and to give them the glory for an anointing. I don’t want any part of an anointing from any angel, I only want the HOLY SPIRIT’S anointing, period. Because I don’t know whether it’s an angel of God or an angel of light sent to deceive.

(Mat 7:22-23). Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

    Note, just because somebody:
    1. Calls Jesus “Lord”
    2. Prophesies
    3. Casts out demons
    4. Does many *wonderful* works (which includes healing people)

Just because they do all these things DOES NOT mean they are of God! It’s not a few, but MANY, that do these things and do not belong to the true Jesus of the Bible. The Catholic Church still does genuine excorcisms (casting out demons) to this day but they are serious idolaters who preach ‘another gospel’. Signs and wonders is no proof of being genuine or not. The only way we can tell is by:

    1. The doctrine of the teacher (2 John)
    2. The fruit of their life (Mat. 7)
    3. Discerning of the spirit they operate under (1 Cor 12)

PLEASE PEOPLE RUN FOR YOUR LIFE FROM THIS END-TIME DECEPTION!!! IT IS A DANGEROUS THING TO EMBRACE ANOTHER SPIRIT THAT’S NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!

The scriptural requirement for salvation is that you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead and you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Todd Bentley believes that with his whole heart and is leading hundreds to Christ every day. Todd was transformed by his salvation experience and he preaches a Jesus who transforms lives.

1 Cor 2:4-5 states: “4My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.”

2 Cor 12:12 further states, “The things that mark an apostle—signs, wonders and miracles—were done among you with great perseverance.”

The signs and wonders that Paul refers to as establishing his ministry are not mentioned in scripture.

Acts 19:11-12 states, “11God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, 12so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.”

There is no record of Jesus doing this. Does that make Paul’s manifestation of power invalid? Peter’s shadow healed the sick. There is no record of Jesus’ doing so. Does that make Peter a false apostle working false signs? There was nothing in scripture like it before.

Satan is unable to create. He is a created being. Everything he does is a corruption of something he learned from the Father. You give him way too much power and credit in your belief system.

Scripture is full of unusual manifestations that happen when people encounter the supernatural God. Falling down is the most common.

There are over 270 references in scripture to angelic encounters. They are rather common in scripture, especially occurring at the beginning of a time of major heavenly activity on the earth. God didn’t tell Mary His plan, He sent an angel. He sent an angel to get Joseph on board. He sent an angel to explain things to John the Baptist’s father. Angels are frequent players in scripture. Why are you so freaked out that they would be again?

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to satan. Before passing judgment on what is going on, I would strongly encourage people to go to the meetings and talk to the people involved – both those being healed and those conducting the meetings.

Fresh Fire omitted to state the fact that the Tampa Tribune has not been writing nice things about the revival lately but rather negative things! How convenient!

I went out and read the articles in the Tampa Tribune. I did not see anything negative per se. I saw a lot of negative comments, but the articles were balanced. They presented people who had been touched and people who objected to the meetings.

One of the endtime spirits of anti-Christs is the spirit of religion, that nasty rotting thing, kinda like the old flesh that you bury when you exept Jesus and are baptized. Todd’s ministry is not at all dead-in fact several have raized FROM the dead. If you think this isn’t from God, try to break loose from your theological saturatedness and look at what Jesus did in the Bible, what He told us to do, what His disciples did, and the fact that scripture does not contain all things that God does, or what is in the spiritual relm–God is too big! The Bible says that all the things Jesus did are not all in the scriptures, and that all the books in the world could not contain them. Things like: clunking like chickens, etc. are only a part of the tip of the ice burg on the things that God’s Spirit does-manifistations of the Holy Spirit. All things are possible with God, and His ways are not our ways. Yes deep repentance is important, but if you are inraptured by the love of God-that is when that happens, we can’t make it happen without the love of God–where is that Biblical? Pick up the Bible, read it for yourself-not just selected verses used in your own context, read everything started with Matt. look up church history, famous revivals and the harvest they brought in, even documentaries on the lives of the Jesus’ first opostles-like Thomas in India, etc. God is GOOD.
My apology if I sounded a little mean toward religous people-God loves you too, but being raised my first few years as a Christian in a religous church and school-that squelched the Spirit-enstead of a live one, and seeing other people’s warped and contorted views of God, my God, that I know and love hurt(s) and I have grown very agry at how religion portrays God as meen or strict or distant from us. That we can’t have an active relationship with Him like a friend where we can hear and feel Him, or that we must hurt ouselves in order to scurge sin and work out our salvation without Him, or that instruments are evil, or that we have to have a dress code, or that we can’t LIVE LIFE! I’m not saying like indulging in sin, but enjoying life as a human being who has buried the old nature and has been joined with God through Jesus Christ-Christ means “anointed one”-and He lives in US when we accept Him, GOOD theology is esential, so that we know the nature of God, but twisted theology that makes God a bad man, or separated from humanity or condemns His holy movement in a place or a heart is something that we have to move away from. Jesus is totally awsome! He was both completely human-without any sin-and completely God-with all power in Heaven and on Earth. That is why He can come and touch our lives, and intercede for the whole world, saved, and unsaved, those who think they have it all together, and those who have hit rock bottom and all inbetween. That is why He is the only way to know God. He loves drugies and porn stars and religous people as much as He loves a Jesus Freak. He may despise what they do, or the spirits that lead them to what they do-as far their sin, not the air they breath or where they go for coffee-, but He LOVES the person, in His eyes each one is the most beautiful part of His creation, the apple of His eye.
